When asked for her highlight of 2023, Sarah Rafi, deputy general counsel at Ardonagh Advisory, had too many to count. As ever, the insurance broker is running at a million miles an hour, with a huge amount of M&A and complimentary business acquisitions to keep the legal team busy. Last year was particularly exciting with compressed timelines and new agreements to work on, which is both a challenge and a privilege.
Regulatory requirements are top of Rafi’s 2024 to-do list, especially for ESG and tech. She aims to take parts of tech that are helpful to the business to automate and streamline Ardonagh’s legal processes. Since she joined seven years ago, the business has become much more complex, and it has become ever pressing that legal teams need to learn to do more with less.
Their software will go live in January, and this alter the way they position themselves as a broker. Rafi is also looking to grow her six-person team, which had two new joiners last year. She takes delight in watching new team members hit the ground running and add to the business.
