Paddy Linighan is an accomplished accountant with over three decades of experience in the legal sector. But having primarily held roles within the finance and operations functions at some of the largest firms in the country, Linighan’s passion for creating a sustainable and positive future culminated in a career change in July 2023 to become Clyde & Co’s first chief sustainability officer.
In a remarkably short time in his new position, Linighan has propelled Clyde & Co from a phase of goal-setting to a phase of decisive action. Spearheading initiatives such as setting stringent sustainability objectives with the firm’s top 100 suppliers, aimed at reducing their footprint to enhance Clyde & Co’s scope three emissions, he has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to tangible results.
Indeed, Linighan orchestrated Clyde & Co’s groundbreaking move to become the first UK firm to transition its credit facility with Barclays into a sustainability-linked credit facility in May 2023. This innovative approach ties the interest rate to Clyde & Co’s success or failure in meeting sustainability targets, showcasing Linighan’s visionary leadership.
