Imagine stepping up to your first management role when your firm was dealing with the fallout from a financial crisis and a 50-strong team office had walked out. That’s what happened with Howes Percival chair Geraint Davies, who cut his management teeth in 2014 – a period when Midlands firm Howes Percival was suffering badly and had slumped out of The Lawyer’s top 100 and into 133rd place.
Davies’s patience and focus have been instrumental in turning around Howes Percival’s fortunes. The firm has now seen two years of double-digit revenue growth in succession, with an 11 per cent rise in 2021/22 followed by a 19 per cent jump last year.
This year Davies will continue to lead Howes Percival’s charge to become a Midlands powerhouse, across the university centres of Cambridge, Norwich, Birmingham and Leicester. It’s a distinctive positioning and a smart one: not only are there plenty of growing businesses, they are talent hubs. With a bold plan to double in size in the next three years, Davies has created a regional firm that has found its mojo.
