About
Businesses in all industries are having conversations about the use and impact of generative AI, and it’s vital
for the legal department to be part of those discussions in order to influence, guide and challenge where
appropriate. The aim of this session is to help in-house lawyers learn and understand more about what
generative AI is, how it operates and how it’s going to be relevant for lawyers and the provision of legal
services. Topics include:
• Is it just an efficiency tool (which is how most legal teams seem to be using it at the moment) or is
there more to AI?
• What are some examples of in-house teams using tools like ChatGPT more creatively?
• Why is generative AI expected to be such a game-changer for the legal profession?
• Can developments in technology help take some of the pressure off the legal team, and is that the
right thing to do?
• Are any roles in the legal team at risk of becoming obsolete as a result?
• How are GCs upskilling their teams in order to be able to use such tools successfully?
• Are we starting to see some of the downsides of AI manifest?
