Michelmores is an Exeter firm which dates back to 1887. As of 2019 it is finally without a member of the Michelmore family after the founder’s great-grandson – former senior partner Will Michelmore – retired to pursue other business interests. In truth, it has been a long time since the firm was a family business. The firm launched in London in 2005, the same year it moved out of the office it had occupied in Exeter for 120 years. It debuted in the UK top 100 in 2013 thanks to revenue put on by the acquisition of Wilsons’ Bristol office and as of 2018 it turned over £37.6m.
These days the firm is keen to plug its international credentials and has a section of its website that boasts of corporate deals done in Sierra Leone, Kazakhstan, China and beyond. However, it does still retain more traditional West Country practices such as agricultural property and many of its clients come from this region.
